BMW FRM 's have a design flaw which leaves them easy to corrupt and die during any low battery voltage situation or during any diagnostic communications.
I can recovery these 99% of the time as long as there is no hardware damage.
The repaired unit will be plug and play for your car ie no coding/programming required.
All dealer diagnositic systems are now live online direct to the manufacturer.
This creates issues when you need to program a new control unit but your coding, programming or hardware has been modified.
The online system will either reject the progamming plan on the grounds that there is a modified controller fitted or it will overwrite the modifications back to the original factory build spec.
I can overcome these issues using a few methods.
Sat nav map updates to the original systems are expensive.
Most vehicles over four years old will generally require a system firmware update also prior to updating the map memory or some of the functions will not work properly.
I can update both the firmware and the maps cheaper than the dealers.
All of the VAG range brands use the same engine ECU's (Electronic Contol Control Units) but their online servers WILL NOT let you adapt the same ECU from a different brand vehicle.
Certain models (Passat especially) are prone to common issues and getting a good 2nd hand unit is almost impossible and expensive.
A new unit is approx £1600 so I have developed a method to allow me to use the same ECU but from a different brand eg fit an Audi ECU to a VW.
